Sickle Cell Summer Enrichment Camp
July 31- August 5, 2022!
Don't Miss the Deadline-Applications Due by June 1, 2022!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency will sponsor its 38th Annual Sickle Cell Summer Enrichment Camp at Camp Carefree in Stokesdale, North Carolina. Our camp will be held Sunday, July 31st through Friday, August 5th.

We are excited to open camp after missing 2 years of fun due to the pandemic! To keep our campers and staff safe, we will operate a little differently. We will take a limited number of campers this year. Campers must be 6 – 16 years of age, be North Carolina residents, and have sickle cell disease. If you are interested in your child attending, please download and complete the application and return by June 1, 2022, to secure your child’s spot. Applications will not be accepted after June 1, 2022.

The health form must be completed by a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner. Please make sure that you attach a copy of your child’s immunization record and documentation of the influenza vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine. Your child will not be accepted into the camp without these required documents.

COVID REQUIREMENTS: Our camp will follow all protocols set by Camp Carefree. All campers and staff will be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and we will require documentation of their vaccination (a copy of the COVID Vaccination card). Masks will be required for indoor activities. In addition, campers will need to have proof of a negative COVID test within 72 hours prior to coming to camp. We will also require parents to sign a waiver that they understand it is possible their child could become COVID positive at camp. Parents must have an exit plan and be able to pick up their child at camp should they become positive for COVID or become ill.

Please understand PHSSCA’s number one goal is camper safety. Our organization does not tolerate bullying, violence, disrespect, or using foul language. A camper will be sent home immediately if they participate in these behaviors. Campers are not allowed to have cell phones, iPads, or tablets while at camp. Parents and guardians are welcome to call the Camp Director to check on campers during the week.

If you have any questions please call the Camp Director, Monica Summers, at 336-886-6261. Thank you for allowing your child to attend our summer camp. We look forward to sharing time with him/her this year.

Sincerely,

Monica Summers
Camp Director
